Behind the
‍Form.

Five years, a hundred drawings, and one
uncompromising form.

An Audacious
Question.

Ō27 began with an audacious question from Broadview: what do ambition and success look like when made visible? In 2021, that question was put to STG Design.

The answer refused to come easily, and the architects would not accept one that did. Concept after concept was taken to the drawing board and set aside, each one pushing further than the last, each one demanding more. What finally emerged was a single, uncompromising form: one repeating floor plate, rotated incrementally as it rises, generating a glass sculpture that commands the skyline.

Shaped by
Light.

Rather than resist Houston's ever-shifting sky, the architect set out to capture it. Every facet was angled to catch and transform the changing light from first sun to last.

The team modeled the movement of light across the building hour by hour, season by season, tracing the play of sun and shadow over every surface until each facet was tuned to its precise effect.

A Surface
in Motion.

STG Design and Permasteelisa Group stress-tested the design against the most demanding standards in the field, transforming the vision into a flowing curtain wall of 8,581 panels across 161 unique shapes of glass, no two planes catching the light the same way.

This is a living work of art, in constant motion and constant conversation with the city around it. A building destined to leave a lasting impression precisely because it never leaves the same one twice.

Behind the Form—Ō27
Buffalo Bayou PARK, Houston, TX

Grounded
in Water.

If the architecture takes its ambition from light, the arrival takes its calm from water.

Design ALT + TAB looked to Buffalo Bayou, the natural artery that has carried this city's story for as long as people have lived beside it. At the heart of the lobby, a suspended sculptural element traces its sinuous course, shifting in direction, scale and elevation as it flows through the space. Below, this form translates into a flowing pattern, so that ceiling and floor become one continuous system: water above and water below. The bayou is not simply the inspiration; it is the generator of the space, shaping organic islands of seating that follow its current rather than a rigid grid.

This is the threshold where Ō27 stops being a monument on the skyline and becomes a place that draws people in, brings them together, andlets them feel what Houston feels like: a city in constant motion, shaped by water, driven by innovation, transformed by light.

Lit by Stars.

At night, a field of delicate point lights spreads across the ceiling like light shimmering across a river. The individual points appear almost like a constellation, a subtle reference to Houston's identity as Space City, while simultaneously evoking the glimmer of water beneath a night sky.
